Both commercial and noncommercial utilities are available for file conversion:
Commercial:
Ulead Systems' Media Studio Pro* 2.5 (for PC) converts .MOV
files to .AVI format. Adobe Premiere* 4.0 (for Windows* 3.1)
or Premiere 4.2 (for Windows* 95 and NT*) converts files
of either format to the other. In addition, Adobe Premiere 4.2
features special support for Indeo video interactive.
Noncommercial:
VfW Converter (for Macintosh*) converts .MOV files to .AVI
format and AVItoQT Utility (for Macintosh) converts .AVI files
to .MOV format. Both are available in the file QTAVI.sit
from Microsoft*'s ftp site or CompuServe* forum. For the PC, Intel currently offers
Smartvid for .AVI to .MOV
or .MOV to .AVI conversion, available on all of Intel's
electronic forums. However, Smartvid currently cannot reinterleave
audio and video.
